What is Tae Kwon Do?

Tae Kwon Do is the Korean national martial art and is also one of the world's most popular martial arts. In the Korean language, Tae means "kick or destroy with the foot", Kwon means "punch or smash with the hand or fist", and Do means "way or art". Hence, Tae Kwon Do is taken to mean "the way of the foot and the fist."

Tae Kwon Do in a nutshell
Tae Kwon Do is a 2000 year-old martial art that originated in Korea. It is the national sport of Korea. Tae Kwon Do is not associated with any particular religion, but has been a significant part of the traditional culture of Korea.

On May 28, 1973, the World Tae Kwon Do Federation was established, its official headquarters in Seoul, Korea. There are now 112 member countries throughout the world.
